Senior Researcher
Centre for Research in Transplantation and Translational Immunology (CR2TI)
INSERM - Nantes Université

Dr. Giraud is a French INSERM permanent Senior Researcher. After his post-doctorate at Harvard Medical School and Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard under the supervision of Drs. Christophe Benoist and Diane Mathis, he established his own research group at Cochin Institute in a lab that he co-headed from 2013 to 2017. In 2017, he joined the CR2TI in Nantes where he coordinates research on central immunological tolerance using molecular and cellular approaches combined with transcriptional and epigenetic techniques (RNA-seq/ ATAC-seq/ Chip-seq) and advanced bioinformatics. His main research interest is the control of self-antigen expression by AIRE in the thymus and the impact of its deregulation on the outcome of the multi-organ autoimmune disease APECED in humans and Aire-KO animal models. He also leads research on iPSc-derived thymic organoids to support T cell development in vitro for therapeutical applications in APECED and other diseases. He has authored 30 publications (H-factor 19) in renowned peer-reviewed journals.
